Mike Lynch and Janelle Guinta Wedding
Venue: Traditions at the Links – East Syracuse, NYDate: June 07, 2014
We were back in the friendly confines of Syracuse, NY for our next 2014 wedding. It was a week after the trip to DJ out of state in North Carolina and the wedding of Mike Lynch and Janelle Guinta proved to be exactly what was needed to follow up such a strenuous trek. Not only were Mike and Janelle excellent clients and an awesome couple, their wedding was very straightforward… no fuss, no muss.
There was no ceremony this time for Salt City Sound Machine as Mike and Janelle had it elsewhere, so we started the night with cocktail hour. People filed into Traditions pretty quickly and soon discovered how wonderfully the room was decorated. They were also introduced to some interesting features, such as Mike and Janelle’s popcorn bar. Introduced with a framed message including the theme that Mike “popped the question”, guests were treated to a variety of popcorn flavors including Movie Butter, Caramel, Buttered Cinnamon Toast, Kettlecorn, and White Cheddar. There was also a custom guest book featuring pictures of the bride and groom next to the slots where the guests could sign their names and leave well wishes. Customization and setting your wedding apart is always an important key to creating a memorable atmosphere for not only your guests, but for yourselves as well.
At the end of the cocktail, the wedding party gathered to make their grand entrances. Mike and Janelle went back to the 90’s for their entrances, resurrecting the infamous Jock Jams album with the song, Let’s Get Ready to Rumble which served as the intro song for the entire wedding party. With the entrances made and their guests standing with adoration, Mike and Janelle enjoyed their first dance together. The song they chose for this occasion was Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart. After the dances were over, the night transitioned to a sit down dinner provided by the culinary staff at Traditions at the Links, but not before the kind words in the form of toasts.
After dinner was all about the dancing. It was a pretty full dance floor throughout the night. As memory serves, big hits of the night went to some group dances such as the Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle. Shout was also a popular choice as there were several people of different age ranges running to the dance floor to have a good time. Mike and Janelle had a wide range of requests ranging from Call Me Maybe to Living on a Prayer which added to the overall variety of music throughout the night. As the wedding went on, a special request was given to Mike to dance with his grandmother to the Bing Crosby song, When Irish Eyes are Smiling.
As far as specific moments go, Mike and Janelle had a few but wanted to keep the focus of the night on the dancing. They did cut the cake shortly after dinner. The small pink cake was the focal point of an elaborately decorated table containing individualized desserts set amongst candles. They chose to cut the cake to the song I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch). Later in the night Mike and Janelle also participated in a Bouquet and Garter Toss. Janelle gathered her single friends and tossed the bouquet to Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) and shortly after Mike removed Janelle’s garter and tossed it to the Duran Duran song Hungry Like the Wolf. There was no garter placement however because the people who caught the bouquet and garter respectively were brother and sister… so… yeah, that would’ve been awkward.
The night wore on and the 7th of June turned into the 8th with the stroke of midnight. It was time for us all to disperse and allow the newly formed Mike and Janelle Lynch to enter their newlywed life. The final song of the night was Billy Joel’s Piano Man, a song that caused the everyone in attendance including the bride and groom to meet on the dance floor in a circle to sing along to the popular hit. Mike and Janelle are a wonderful couple and the closeness of their guests was a symbol that reinforced that point to conclude their wedding day.
Congratulations to Mike and Janelle. Thanks for choosing Salt City Sound Machine and we wish you the best of luck in the future!
